2010 Philadelphia Flower Show “Passport to the World”
Philadelphia –The 2010 Philadelphia Flower Show will treat visitors to an exotic journey with the theme, Passport to the World, opening February 28 to March 7 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The Show will transport visitors to dozens of destinations covering the globe. Among the most impressive will be India, a land of colors, textures, scents and sounds that will come to life amid a shower of flowers in an Indian wedding scene. The Netherlands, with its rainbow of blooms, will be portrayed in a floating flower market filled with over 100,000 blooms. The natural wonders of South Africa will be captured in flowers that depict the vivid colors and patterns of costumes of the Zulu. The Amazon jungle of Brazil will unfold in an otherworldly canopy of sparkling waterfalls, tropical flora and exotic wildlife. Singapore, the “Pearl of Asia,” will be presented in a luminescent tribute to the orchid, and New Zealand, a rugged land of beauty, will explode with color and imagination inspired by the wild flora and traditions of the native Maori.
Guests will be treated daily to internationally inspired dance and musical performances, a World Bazaar of exotic and decorative shops, as well as an International Wine and Spirits Garden in the Show’s Grand Hall.
Visitors will want to plan in advance to attend any of the more than 150 gardening presentations held throughout Show week, as well as dozens of educational displays that explore the most popular new trends for home gardeners. A bustling Garden Marketplace will feature many take-home items to get the garden started, and a luxurious garden “spa” will offer home décor and products for the garden in a beautiful setting on the Show Bridge. A schedule of presentations and attractions will be available online at theflowershow.com.
The Philadelphia Flower Show, internationally recognized as one of the nation’s premiere events as well as the oldest and largest indoor show of its kind, is produced by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and presented by PNC Bank.
